Make This "Good List" To Become A Better Parent & Partner

Today we are getting personal. We begin with the stresses of being a parent — especially on Halloween night. In the midst of all this commotion, sometimes we forget the impact of our own words. I reflect on my own love language of words of affirmation and how negative words carry more weight than positive ones. The goal after listening to this episode: start making a “good list” for yourself of all the things you are proud of.

What we’re talking about:

  • Once upon a Halloween night filled with sugar induced five-year-olds

  • Our tendencies to focus on the negatives

  • The weight of negative versus positive words

  • Making more conscious decisions to be intentional with positive words

  • Creating a “good list” for all the things we are proud of ourselves/kiddos/partner/loved ones for doing

  • I started doing this for my five year old and read it to her at bed time

  • Another anecdote (At home date recommendation: bottle of wine and We’re Not Really Strangers card game) of the impact of our words

  • Importance of love languages in how we accept and receive love
